Charlie Diehl
August 8, 1912 - June 7, 2010
It is with sorrowful regret that we observe the loss of another diving/water show legend. In a recent issue of a news letter published by the World Acrobatic Society, it was noted that the great Charlie Diehl passed away on June 7, 2010.
No videos of his activities are currently available, but Charlie won four national titles in swimming and diving, played professional football for the then Cleveland Rams, was a Wheaties "Breakfast of Champions" star in 1952 and was a diver in the fabulous Aqua Follies. The stories about Charlie and his escapades are endless. He will be missed, but fondly remembered.
Lou Plocher Tank Blows Out At Miami Dade Youth Fair May 2009 If you've never seen it, you wouldn't believe how much damage that much water can do in a matter of seconds. Lou had to ride it out down the Midway. Amazingly, everyone survived the ordeal with relatively minor injuries. Wow!
Jordan Windle
10-year old diver / Our pick for future Olympic Diving Champion May 2009 An interview with an amazing 10-year old diver, a Cambodian boy adapted at 18 months of age...our pick to one day win the Olympics. This kid has natural talent and perfect lines to be the best. He wants to be the first to do a 4 1/2 on the 1-meter springboard and I truly believe he can one day pull it off!
He is presently working with U.S. Olympic Coach Dave Burgering at the Hall Of Fame pool in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Keep an eye on this one! He's not only a wonderful kid, but as a diver he is poised to become something extremely special!
Stathis Avramidis International Water Safety advocate, author
& speaker
May 2009 Stathis, who hails from
Athens Greece, has dedicated his life to the enhancement of Water Safety
education throughout the world. I had an opportunity to sit down with
him while he was in Ft. Lauderdale to receive the coveted Perigon Award at
a ceremony hosted by the International Swimming Hall Of Fame. The achievements he has attained at the modest age of 35 are incredible.
His stories are quite interesting and his accomplishments in the field should be noted accordingly. He is a
wonderful person and a very formidable young man indeed!
